How did Instagram know you were looking for boots? Why did Siri just pipe up, out of the blue? And what is up with those terms and conditions you definitely did NOT read?
Our private life is increasingly...not so private. What do young people know about how their information is being used when they’re online? What do they want to know? And most importantly, what do they need to know as they navigate digital spaces?
Athena is looking to build a team of students from a diverse group of disciplines, backgrounds, and experiences to explore these questions. We’ll share what we learn directly with decision-makers at the New York Public Library — the largest library system in the country, a source of books, information, ideas, and education for more than 17 million patrons a year and millions more online, and one of the few organizations with the reach and resources to do something meaningful and at scale with the answers.

Applications are due by March 4, 2020 by 5pm. Selected participants will be notified by March 9, 2020.
