CANCELLED: Power Talk with Anna Holmes

Wednesday, April 3, 2019
6:30PM-8PM
Milbank Hall, Room 223 Ella Weed

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, this event has been CANCELLED. We will be rescheduling this event for next semester, Fall 2019.

Please accept our apologies and we look forward to seeing you at another Athena Center event soon.

Join us for a conversation with Athena Distinguished Fellow Anna Holmes, founder of the women-focused site, Jezebel.com, and SVP at First Look Media, where she serves as the Editorial Director at Topic, a digital magazine that commissions and distributes ambitious storytelling projects in a variety of genres, including photography, illustration and documentary film.

An award-winning editor and writer, Anna has contributed to The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Washington Post, among other publications. Over the course of her 20-year career—which included the creation of Jezebel—she has challenged long-held cultural conventions around gender, race, and power. Her perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit are laudable and an inspiration to new generations of strong female leaders.

This conversation will be moderated by Victoria Gordon, acting director of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies, and is co-sponsored by Barnard's MacIntosh Activities Council and Columbia Women's Entrepreneurship Group.

Our Power Talk series features today’s leaders discussing provocative topics of the moment. Each talk is followed by an audience Q&A. These events are free and open to the public but registration is requested.
