Welcome to the inaugural Baraza: Young African Women’s Leadership Initiative hosted at Barnard College, Columbia University and sponsored by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies. (http://barazainitiative.org)
Baraza, a Swahili word for “meeting”, aims to bring together passionate female African students and connect them with exceptional leaders from across Africa. It is an opportunity for these young women to brainstorm ideas for entrepreneurial projects aimed at improving education, the environment, and women’s health, as well as increasing the participation of young women in business and politics throughout the continent. This Baraza will also honor exceptional students who have contributed to bringing positive change to Africa.
Attendance is limited, so please register at your earliest convenience.
